Hackerspace Charlotte Day

May 4th has been proclaimed by Charlotte’s Mayor Anthony Foxx as “Hackerspace Charlotte Day”. Bring your friends and family for a night of fun you’ll never forget.

RC Airplanes

Reprap Build Class – Wednesdays

The purpose of this night’s activities will be to introduce people to reprap, the reprap project and the road-map required to build it.

We will also decide on a regular night to do the builds themselves. Tonight we’ll get a count of the people who are going to be actively building and which design decisions they are going to take. There is a balance of cost verses quality… I will detail what the differences are so that people can make their own choices.

Dev++ workshop – Thursdays

We help beginners become pros, pros become experts, and so on. Our goal is to have everyone learn at their own pace and use the languages and tools that interest them most.

Learn to Solder – Thursdays

Kids, bring your parents and teach them how to solder.

HSC has 10 soldering Irons in pretty red boxes. We need help starting fires, burning clothes, and making a circuit or two.

Quadcopter Build Class

Who wants to learn how to build a quadcopter?!

HSC member Hardik has offered to teach a series of classes on how to build a quadcopter!

This class will cover about 3-4 weeks and would consist of:

Determining the size of the quadcopter you want to build.

Ordering parts

Design/build a frame (can be 3d printed for extra awesomeness)

Solder electronics (possibly design and etch/cnc a power distribution board)

Assemble everything

Load open source software

Tune settings

Learn to fly

An Evening of Locksport 11/9

I only rhyme for the extra special events, and this one is going to be great! Our resident locksport fanatic has worked very hard to put together Hackerspace Charlotte Locksport Night.

So come on out, and don’t worry if you don’t have a set of picks, we will have extras around.

Hardware Hacking @ HSC 9/8

Every other Thursday, Hardware Hacking @ Hackerspace Charlotte.

Loosely defined, hardware hacking in this sense includes, but isn’t really limited to:
- physical computing
- circuit bending
- robotics and animatronics
- microcontrollers (Arduino, etc…)
- motors, piezos, servos, sensors, lights, piezos, and more…

Grab yr soldering iron, bring your current projects, or just show up and play around with hardware on hand.
